With the NABORE-Collection tbSTUDIO shows specific design products and hereby trend-setting possibilities for design and production of high-quality interior products made of recycled materials. Each product sets conceptual focus in the topics "design, construction, serial processability and sustainability".
Background: leather processing generates approximately 1 billion m² of offcuts per year. Previously disposed of as waste, NABORE transforms the leather scraps into new, recyclable materials using a patented upcycling process.
tbSTUDIO supports NABORE® as material designer and consultant in the development of materials for the furniture industry and interior design. As part of the "Young Innovative Companies" funding program, tbSTUDIO has been selected to present its progressive work on a dedicated booth space at IMM Cologne 2023.
Mit der NABORE-Collection zeigt tbSTUDIO konkrete Designprodukte und damit zukunftsweisende Möglichkeiten für Design und Produktion von hochwertigen Interior-Produkten aus Recyclingmaterialien. Jedes Produkt setzt den konzeptionellen Schwerpunkt in den Themen "Design, Konstruktion, serielle Verarbeitbarkeit und Nachhaltigkeit".
Hintergrund: In der Lederverarbeitung entstehen pro Jahr ca. 1 Milliarde m² Verschnitt. Bisher als Abfall entsorgt, verwandelt NABORE die Lederreste im patentierten Upcycling-Verfahren in neue, kreislauffähige Werkstoffe.
tbSTUDIO unterstützt NABORE® als Materialdesigner und Berater bei der Entwicklung von Materialien für die Möbelindustrie und Innenarchitektur. Im Rahmen des Förderprogramms „Junge innovative Unternehmen“ wurde tbSTUDIO ausgewählt, seine progressiven Arbeiten auf einer eigenen Standfläche der IMM Cologne 2023 zu präsentieren.

The minimalist design of the secretary impressively shows possibilities in the construction of 3D-shaped objects. The combination of natural wood and leather creates a strong aura of value - without sacrificing sustainability!
Layers of NABORE-LSP form a solid desk top. Underneath, layers of LSP form frames that lead to the table legs. On the top, the desk surface merges into a body that provides power and light for the workstation.
Das minimalistische Design des Sekretärs zeigt auf eindrucksvolle Weise welche Möglichkeiten sich im Formenbau bieten. Die Kombination von natürlichem Holz und Leder erzeugt eine starke Aura von wertigkeit – ganz ohne auf Nachhaltigkeit zu verzichten!
Lagen aus NABORE-LSP bilden eine solide Schreibtischplatte. Unterhalb formen sich Lagen LSP zu Zargen welche in den Tischbeinen münden. Oberseitig geht die Tischfläche in einen Korpus über welcher Strom und Licht für den Arbeitsplatz bietet.

Foldable Storage boxes & Baskets
Made as a two-dimensional pattern, the storage boxes and paper bins are folded by the user into the three-dimensional shape. Form and function are created by plug-in connections or with book screws. The boxes and baskets can be efficiently produced by die-cutting or cutting plotter and are environmentally friendly to ship as a small package in rolled-up form. NABORE-LSP-flex is a very break and tear resistant material, which can be folded and creased without any problems. Different colors create design variety. The surfaces of the boxes are not sealed or coated. The result is a natural leather patina and thus a living product - sustainable, functional and lively.
Als zweidimenionales Schnittmuster hergestellt, werden die Storageboxen und Papierkörbe vom Nutzer in die dreidimensionale Form gefalten. Form und Funktion entstehen durch steckbare Verbindungen oder mit Buchschrauben. Die Boxen und Körbe sind effizient per Stanzwerkzeug oder Schnidplotter herstellbar und umweltfreundlich als kleines Paket in zusammgerollter Form versendbar. NABORE-LSP-flex ist ein sehr bruch- und reißfestes Material, welches man problemlos Knicken und Falzen kann. Verschiedene Farben erzeugen gestalterische Vielfalt. Die Oberflächen der Boxen sind nicht versiegelt oder beschichtet. Es entsteht eine natürliche Leder-Patina und damit lebendiges Produkt – nachhaltig, funktional und lebendig.

Layers of NABORE-LSP are guided in two wooden frames. Knives inserted between the layers are held and protected. Depending on the number of knives to be stored, layers can be removed from the block.
5kg of LSP make up the usable volume of the knife block. LSP contains more than 70% upper leather remnants, which corresponds to a quantity of about 3.5kg. It's easy to imagine that an everyday product like a knife block can quickly be sold a thousand times - just as quickly 3.5 tons of upper leather would be recycled. Isn't that gigantic!?
Schichten aus NABORE-LSP werden in zwei Holzrahmen geführt. Zwischen die Schichten gesteckte Messer werden gehalten und geschützt. Je nach Anzahl der zu lagernden Messer können dem Block Schichten entnommen.
5kg LSP bilden das nutzbare Volumen des Messerblock. LSP enthält mehr als 70% Oberleder-Reste, was einer Menge von rund 3,5kg entspricht. Leicht vorstellbar, dass ein Alltagsprodukt wie ein Messerblock schnell eintausend Male verkauft werden kann – genauso schnell wären damit 3,5 Tonnen Oberleder recycelt. Ist das nicht gigantisch!?
Drawer inserts & surface decor material
tbSTUDIO has developed the production of molded parts with recycled materials over years. Drawer inserts for kittchen, wardrobe equipment in bedrooms and bathrooms or in functional areas such as stores, laboratory, workshop, etc are imaginable. Profiles as a molded part made of multiple NABORE-layers can form shapes and create functions. The surfaces are sealed with a highly resistant PU film, as used as standard in the automotive industry. Whether as a surface decor of a cabinet interior or as a decorative material on wood-based panels - exciting textures and colors of choice allow a wide range of designs.
tbSTUDIO hat die Herstellung von Formteilen mit Recyclingmaterialien über Jahre entwickelt. Schubkasteneinlagen, Schrankausstattung in Schlaf- und Badezimmer oder in Funktionsbereichen wie Lager, Labor, Werkstatt sind möglich. Profile als Formteil aus mehreren Schichten können konkrete Formen und Funktionen abbilden. Die Oberflächen sind mit einem hoch widerstandsfähigen PU-Film versiegelt, wie er in der Automobilindustrie standardmäßig eingesetzt wird. Ob als Oberflächendekor einer Schrankausstattung oder als Dekormaterial auf Holzwerkstoffplatten – aufregende Texturen und Farben nach Wahl ermöglichen vielfältige Designs.
Classic milking Stools – made of recycled Leather
Woodturning is one of the oldest forms of handicraft mold making. The pair of two stools shows in an exciting way that even with recycled materials from NABORE can be made in this way seat shells with a seat cavity. Reminiscent of the classic milking stool, they represent a familiar and always current design.
Holzdrechseln ist eine der ältesten Formen handwerklichen Formenbaus. Das Pärchen zweier Hocker zeigt in aufregender Weise dass auch mit Recycle-Materialien von NABORE auf diese Weise Sitzschalen mit einer Sitzmulde hergestellt werden können. Inspired by the classic milking stool, they represent a well-known and always current furniture design.
3D-molded Objects as "everyday goods"
As products of everyday life, trays, fruit bowls, PC-stands or as well toys like a spinner are nowadays produced in huge quantities from a wide variety of materials. The design approaches shown have been specifically developed by tbSTUDIO. Mass-produced products made from recycled materials are the key to more sustainability!Made almost entirely from recycled materials, all shown “everyday-goods” are completely recyclable at the end of their use - i.e. capable for “cradle to cradle”. Each product made of recycled materials not only helps to extend the use of leather by one life cycle, it can be recycled in several cycles, thus creating a new dimension of sustainability.
Als Produkte des Alltags werden Tabletts, Obstschalen, Tablett-PC-Ständer oder sogar einfache Spielzeuge wie ein Kreisel, werden heute in riesigen Mengen aus unterschiedlichsten Materialien hergestellt. Die gezeigten Designansätze sind gezielt von tbSTUDIO entwickelt worden. Massenfähige Produkte aus Recycling-Materialien sind der Schlüssel zu mehr Nachhaltigkeit! Annähernd vollständig aus Recycle-Material hergestellt, sind sie am Ende ihrer Nutzung komplett recylebar – also cradle-to-cradle-fähig. Jedes Produkt aus NABORE ist somit nicht nur behilflich die Nutzung von Leder um einen Lebenszyklus zu verlängern, es kann in mehreren Kreisläufen wieder verwertet werden und erzeugt damit eine neue Dimension von Nachhaltigkeit.

tbSTUDIO has developed a construction principle in which a wood-based panel is surrounded by NABORE. Construction- and decorative-materials are glued in layers and pressed into shape. The lower layers reshape the wood-based panel and bond externally with the upper layers to form a thin edge. The result is a slightly flexible edge that makes it pleasant to use. The warm feel of the surfaces and muted acoustics make this innovative panel construction unique and versatile. Whether table tops, cabinet doors, components of beds or drawer fronts with handle grooves, the new construction principle makes it possible to design and produce special design objects in a simple way - sustainable, of course!
tbSTUDIO ein Konstruktionsprinzip entwickelt, indem eine Holzwerkstoffplatte mit NABORE ummantelt ist. Konstruktions- und Dekorwerkstoffe werden hier in Lagen verklebt und in Form gepresst. Die unteren Lagen umformen die Holzwerkstoffplatte und verbinden sich außen mit den oberen Lagen zu einer dünnen Kante. Es entsteht eine leicht flexible Kante, die eine angenehme Nutzung ermöglicht. Die warme Haptik der Oberflächen und eine gedämpfte Akustik machen diese neuartige Plattenkonstruktion einzigartig und vielseitig einsetzbar. Ob Tischplatten, Schranktüren, Bauteile von Betten oder Schubkastenfronten mit Griffmulde, das neue Konstruktionsprinzip ermöglicht auf einfache Weise die Herstellung besonderer Designobjekte – natürlich nachhaltig!
